Player Assessments & Team Draft (Minors, Majors, Juniors)
For the 2026 season, all players registered in Minors, Majors, and Juniors attend assessments.
Pee Wee, T-Ball, and Rookie players do not attend.
📅 Assessment Dates
February 20 & 21, 2026
Exact times and locations will be emailed and posted as we get closer.
🧢 What to Bring
- Clothing: Comfortable, weather-appropriate layers (avoid bulky coats).
- Shoes: Tennis/athletic shoes only — no cleats for assessments.
- Mitt/Glove: Please bring one.
- Bats:
- Baseball: RLL provides bats. Players may bring a personal bat if it’s
USA Baseball–approved (look for the USA Baseball logo). Non-approved bats aren’t allowed.
- Softball: Players may bring a personal bat if they prefer.
🎯 What Happens at Assessments
Players rotate through skill stations (fielding, throwing, hitting, and pitching where applicable). Coaches from each division observe and take notes to prep for the draft.
Important Draft Details
- All players are placed on a team. This is not a tryout—assessments simply help create balanced teams.
- How it works: Coaches draft their rosters using assessment notes.
- Missed assessments? If a player can’t attend (illness, schedule conflict, late registration), they enter a
blind draft on draft day.
- Team/coach requests: Requests to play with specific coaches or players aren’t considered for these divisions due to the draft format.
We know families are busy, but showing up to assessments is the best way to support a fair, balanced draft.
Let’s make 2026 a fantastic season! ⚾🥎
